Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Oath Taking Ceremony 2026 Live Updates: Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam today for a second consecutive term in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and other top NDA leaders.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at Khanapara in Guwahati. US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has reached Guwahati to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

Chief Ministers from 22 NDA-ruled states and Union Territories, BJP leaders, ambassadors, industrialists and religious leaders were also present.

4 ministers and assembly speaker take oath

Along with Sarma, four ministers including Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro and Ajanta Neog along with the Assembly Speaker, took oath. The final list of ministers would be decided after discussions with BJP national president Nitin Nabin.

The BJP-led NDA, which includes the BJP, AGP and BPF, secured a third straight term with 102 seats in the 126-member Assembly. The BJP alone won 82 seats. BJP president JP Nadda said eight BJP MLAs proposed Sarma’s name as legislature party leader.

BJP state chief Dilip Saikia said the NDA government in Assam is taking oath for the third consecutive time in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
