Assam was in grip of fear during Congress rule, says PM Modi at Guwahati rally

After inaugurating a six-lane bridge on the Brahmaputra River in Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive rally in Guwahati on Saturday (February 14, 2026).

Mr. Modi arrived on a day-long visit to Assam to inaugurate an emergency landing facility (ELF) and launch projects worth over ₹5,500 crore.

Addressing the rally, the Prime Minister gave credit to party workers for BJP’s success and added that “We believe in organisational strength.”

Mr. Modi said that “Over 125 people of Northeast bestowed with Padma awards since 2014.”

The Prime Minister said that he is proud to be an BJP worker and said “Being a BJP worker my biggest qualification, source of pride.”

Speaking on the northeast development, the Prime Minister said “Northeast, which was neglected by Congress, is our priority; we are devoted to its development. BJP government ensuring all-round development of Assam.”

Earlier in the morning, he landed at the Emergency Landing Facility. He said “Emergency landing facility in Assam’s Moran will bolster nation’s security.”

The Prime Minister said “Significant steps taken in this year’s Union Budget to further strengthen connectivity in Northeast.”

Mr. Modi also paid tributes to the 2019 Pulwama bravehearts at the rally and said “World saw how India punished terrorists.”

Lashing out at the Congress, the Prime Minister said “Congress always endangered nation’s security; Assam was in grip of fear during its rule. Congress built only 3 bridges on Brahmaputra in 7 decades, while BJP constructed 5 in 10 years.”
