At least 1 person was killed and several others injured after the bus they were travelling in fell into the Alaknanda river in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district on Thursday morning.

“A bus went out of control and fell into the Alaknanda river in Gholthir area of ​​Rudraprayag district. As per information received so far, 18 people were on-board the bus,” IG Nilesh Anand Bharane told news agency ANI.

Sharing details about the accident, Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said: “One person has died and at least seven people are injured after the 18-seater bus fell into the Alaknanda river. Teams of SDRF, police and local administration are present on the spot for the rescue operation.”
