Awareness drive on human rights held at Institute of Mental Health

The Telangana State Legal Services Authority, in collaboration with the Institute of Mental Health (IMD), Erragadda, organised an awareness programme to mark World Human Rights Day on Wednesday. The event was aimed to promote understanding of human rights among patients, caregivers, legal services personnel, and the staff of the Institute of Mental Health, with a particular focus on access to justice and the protection of rights for persons living with mental illness.

Around 150 people attended the event, including mental health professionals, hospital staff, faculty members, and students. Dr Anitha Rayirala, hospital superintendent, and Ch. Panchakshari, Member Secretary of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority, underlined the continued commitment to strengthening legal aid and mental health services across Telangana.

Justice P. Sam Koshy, Judge of the High Court for the State of Telangana and Executive Chairman of the Telangana State Legal Services Authority, attended as chief guest. Justice K. Lakshman, Judge of the High Court for the State of Telangana and Chairman of the High Court Legal Services Committee, was present as guest of honour.
