BAN vs PAK, 2nd Test, Day 4 Live Score: Pakistan will need something extraordinary to avoid losing the two-Test series after Bangladesh set them a formidable 437-run target in the second Test, powered by a landmark century from Mushfiqur Rahim.
Resuming day three at 110 for 3 with a lead already established, Bangladesh extended their dominance through Mushfiqur and Litton Das. The pair added 123 runs for the fifth wicket, with Litton making 69 before falling to Hasan Ali. Mushfiqur carried on to 137, reaching his 14th Test century and overtaking Mominul Haque as Bangladesh’s leading Test centurion.
The veteran also found useful support from Taijul Islam, who scored 22 in a 77-run stand for the eighth wicket. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 390, with Khurram Shahzad taking 4 for 86 and Sajid Khan claiming 3 for 126.
Pakistan reached stumps at 0 for 0 after two overs, but history is against them. No Pakistan side has ever chased more than 377 in Tests, and the world record remains 418. With Bangladesh having won the first Test, the visitors now need the highest chase in their history to square the series.
Despite the odds, Pakistan pace bowling coach Umar Gul remained optimistic, saying the side would play for victory and not settle for a draw. Bangladesh spinner Taijul, however, said the scoreboard pressure alone could affect Pakistan, adding that discipline would now be key with two days remaining.

Gul said Pakistan fast bowlers’ pace dropped in the Test series against Bangladesh.“Bowling long spells in Test cricket takes a lot out of a bowler as white ball is very different. That is why it is true that the pace of our bowlers drops in red ball cricket.”
“The pitch to me has been very good for batting on the second and third days as the ball is coming on nicely to the bat. On the first day there was a bit of moisture and movement but it has got easier to bat on. So anything is possible in the Test, as we can chase this down,” said Gul.
Speaking to the media after the third day’s play in Sylhet, the former Pakistan fast bowler conceded that lack of proper red ball matches has hit the performance of the bowlers.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Azan Awais, OUT! LBW! Miraz strikes with a beauty. Bowls a bit round-armish, with a nice bit of flight on middle, Azan Awais stretches forward to defend this full ball, but it keeps drifting in and he plays over it, getting beaten on the inside edge and being rapped on the front pad. A huge appeal for LBW and up goes the finger. Azan Awais has a chat with Shan Masood and opts to take the review. There is no spike on the UltraEdge and the Ball Tracking shows that the ball is clipping the leg stump on umpire's call. So, the on-field decision is upheld. Awais departs after a decent start, but couldn't convert. Pakistan do not lose the review, but have lost both their openers now. They are reduced to 41/2, needing 396 runs.

DRINKS BREAK! The first hour has flown by on the fourth day and despite a decent resilience shown by the Pakistani openers, Bangladesh have managed to split that pair. The surface still looks good to bat on, but variable bounce is creeping in and it will only wear further as the match progresses. Azan has looked assured so far and will need to forge a strong partnership with his captain, Masood, from here and bat through the session. Bowling from Bangladesh has been largely precise as well and they will look to get one more out before the Lunch break to tighten their grip on the contest further. Nahid Rana, who has bowled pretty impressively, picking up a wicket, will continue after the hydration break.
BAN vs PAK, 2nd Test, Day 4 Live Score: Mushfiqur Rahim produced another memorable Test innings to push Bangladesh firmly into control of the second Test against Pakistan national cricket team, setting the visitors a daunting 437-run target.
The veteran batter struck 137 in Bangladesh’s second innings total of 390, combining with Litton Das for a crucial 123-run fifth-wicket stand that deflated Pakistan’s hopes of a quick turnaround. Litton contributed 69 after his first-innings century, but it was Mushfiqur who dominated the day, bringing up his 14th Test hundred to become Bangladesh’s most prolific centurion in the format, moving past Mominul Haque’s tally of 13.
At 39, Mushfiqur’s knock underlined his longevity, and it was also his eighth Test hundred since 2022. His century came off 178 balls, with a boundary off Mohammad Abbas marking the record-breaking moment.
Pakistan ended the day on 0 without loss, with openers Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal surviving two overs before bad light stopped play.
The challenge ahead is steep. Pakistan’s highest successful chase remains 377, while the world record is 418 by West Indies against Australia in 2003. Having already lost the opener, Pakistan now face a huge task to avoid a series defeat.
