A 38-year-old bank employee, who was swept away in a rain-fed stream during heavy rain in Ballari on Saturday night, was later found dead, the police said.
The deceased was identified as Anees Fatima, a resident of Soori Colony (Lotus Colony) in Ballari.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Saturday when the city received heavy rainfall.
Anees Fatima was riding her moped and attempting to cross a bridge over a stream near Taha School in Cowl Bazaar when she lost control in flowing rainwater and was swept away.
A search operation was launched and the body was found on Sunday morning in bushes near a canal close to Andral on the outskirts of the city.
In a complaint lodged with the police, her husband, Hafeezullah, has stated that he did not suspect any foul play in her death.
