Bankers told not to adjust Gruha Lakshmi amount against loans

Chief Executive Officer of the Yadgir Zilla Panchayat Yadgir Lavish Ordia has said that bankers have been instructed not to forcibly adjust funds from the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme against old loan arrears.

In a release here, he said that under the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme, a monthly financial assistance of ₹2,000 is being deposited into bank accounts of female heads of households through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The meeting chaired by the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government and the Development Commissioner of the Government discussed the issue of directing banks concerned through the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) not to forcibly deduct the Gruha Lakshmi amount from bank accounts on the pretext of adjusting it against loan balance or interest. It has been directed to take appropriate action on this, he added.

Mr. Ordia said that appropriate directions have been issued to banks that come under his jurisdiction not to forcibly deduct amount paid to beneficiaries under Gruha Lakshmi from their bank accounts under the pretext of adjusting it against loan balance or interest.
