BBMKU Students Injured in Chennai Youth Festival Gate Collapse

Dhanbad: Two students from Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU), who are attending the 39th All India University National Youth Festival in Chennai, were injured in an accident.

The students, both women, were hurt when a large iron entrance gate at the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai suddenly collapsed on Tuesday evening.The students from the university’s dance team came under the structure during the mishap. One of the injured students, Kumud, sustained serious injuries to her shoulder, hand and head. Another student, Priyasha Pal, suffered a fracture in her hand.

Both students belong to Guru Nanak College and were part of the university’s 10-member dance team participating in the national event. A 27-member contingent from Dhanbad travelled to Chennai for the festival. “The university administration is in constant touch with the students and team managers and monitoring the situation,” Pushpa Kumari, dean of students’ welfare at BBMKU, said.
