The Government Degree College for Women, Begumpet, earned accolades at the inaugural session of Education Weekorganised by the Telangana Government, as part of the 99-day Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika, at Lal Bahadur Stadium on Monday.
Associate Professor of Telugu Dr. N. Mrudula, a Rashtrapati Awardee who earlier won the Best Faculty Award in 2024, was felicitated with a ₹10,000 cash prize. Alongside her, Banoth Pavani, a first-year B.A. student and international para-shooter, was presented a laptop for securing fourth place in All India Rifle Shooting and qualifying for the Paralympics.
The Telangana government also announced a ₹1 lakh incentive to the institution under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika programme, recognising its pursuit of academic and extracurricular excellence.
Principal (FAC) Appiyachinnamma and vice-principal T. Bhaskar Reddy congratulated the awardees, calling the honours “a testament to continuous learning and discipline at GDCW Begumpet.” Faculty members and students joined in celebrating the achievements.
