Belagavi witnesses heavy rains

Belagavi city and surrounding areas witnessed thunderstorms and heavy rains for nearly an hour on Tuesday (March 24).

Some areas witnessed hailstorms too. Though unusually hot since morning, it began raining in the evening. Several roads were flooded , leading to traffic congestion. Vendors had to leave their wares and run to safety after the Kanda-Lasun market in Ravivarpet in the old city suffered flash floods.

Water entered some houses in low lying areas like Hindalga.

Portions of the areas undergoing renovation in the Deputy Commissioner’s office were also affected.
