BEML CMD Shantanu Roy meets CM Vishnu Deo Sai to boost operations in Chhattisgarh.
RAIPUR: BEML Limited, a public sector undertaking, is expanding its presence in Chhattisgarh with strong support from the state government. Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Shantanu Roy met Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai to explore future collaborations in infrastructure, defence, and mining.As part of this initiative, BEML laid the foundation stone for a modern Central Warehousing Centre in Bilaspur to improve supply chain efficiency across its core sectors. The fully digitalised facility aims to ensure faster dispatch of spare parts and enhanced customer service.In a major boost to local industry, the state government has also allotted 100 acres of land for a new mining equipment manufacturing unit.
This project supports the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision by promoting local production, generating employment, and encouraging vendor development.The discussions underlined BEML’s strategic focus on supporting Chhattisgarh’s economic growth by enhancing local manufacturing, creating job opportunities, and building a strong logistics and service infrastructure. The Chief minister welcomed the initiatives and assured full state support to facilitate BEML’s expansion.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the Bilaspur warehousing facility was inaugurated by Shri Shantanu Roy, in the presence of Shri Harish Duhan, CMD of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), along with Shri Anil Jerath, Director (Finance), and Shri Sanjay Som, Director (Mining & Construction), BEML Ltd. Senior officials from both organisations were also present.The Bilaspur centre will be equipped with a barcode-based inventory management system for real-time tracking, accurate storage, and smooth processing.
It is designed to dispatch critical spare parts within 24 to 48 hours of a customer request, boosting after-sales service and operational efficiency.Commenting on the development, Roy stated:“We are more than happy to explore Chhattisgarh as a promising destination for expanding our business footprint. The state holds immense potential—not only in supporting our growth aspirations but also in enabling us to contribute meaningfully through local employment generation and strengthening of small and ancillary industries.
The recently launched Central Warehousing Centre in Bilaspur stands as a testament to our commitment to developing Chhattisgarh as a key hub in our long-term strategy for sustainable operations and customer-centric service delivery.
