Bengaluru Man Kills Wife By Stomping On Neck During Money Dispute; Friend Alleges Affair

In a shocking case of domestic violence, a 34-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband, who is accused of stomping on her neck during a heated argument over money at their home in Nagasandra, under the jurisdiction of the Peenya police station, on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Kavya (34), died after her husband Kariyappa, a contractor and builder by profession, allegedly assaulted her during a quarrel around 12:30 pm, police sources said.

According to preliminary information, the couple had been arguing for nearly a week over financial matters. On Tuesday, Kariyappa had reportedly brought Rs 2 lakh home, which triggered a fresh dispute after Kavya allegedly insisted that the money be given to his elder brother.

“A quarrel broke out again today afternoon over the same financial issue. During the argument, the husband allegedly assaulted his wife and pressed his foot on her neck, leading to her death," police sources said.

The couple, originally from Belagavi district, had been living in Bengaluru, where Kariyappa worked as a contractor. They have two children, and neighbours said the couple frequently argued over property and money-related matters.

Officials from the Peenya Police Station rushed to the spot after receiving information and conducted an inspection. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.

Friend Alleges Harassment, Suspects Affair

The case took a dramatic turn after a friend of the accused, identified as Venkatachalayya, alleged that Kariyappa’s behaviour and suspected extramarital involvement may have contributed to the crime.

“He had a habit of interacting with other women and would even show photos of himself with other women to his wife. Kavya was deeply hurt because of this," the friend claimed.

He further alleged that he had intervened several times in the couple’s disputes to reconcile them.

“I had mediated between them multiple times. Recently, they had even shifted houses. Kavya was a very good woman, and they have two children. He had a strong habit of chasing other women. She questioned his alleged relationship, and that could be the reason behind the murder," he added.

Cops Probe Multiple Angles

Police officials said they are examining both the financial dispute and the alleged extramarital relationship angle as part of the investigation.

The accused has been secured, and police are questioning him. Police say all possible angles, including financial disputes and personal issues between the couple, are being examined.

The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and a case of murder has been registered.
