Bengaluru student achieves 99.99 percentile score in JEE-2026 (main) Session-1

A. Vishnu Sai Theja secured a score of 99.99 percentile in the Joint Entrance Examination 2026 (JEE Main), Session-1, Paper-1 (BE/BTech) and emerged as the State topper. This time, no candidate from the State secured 100 percentile.

A student of Narayana CO-Kaveri Bhavan, off Sarjapur Road, Bengaluru, Theja, was placed 14th among 43 toppers . He secured 100 percentile in Physics, 99.99 in Chemistry and 99.97 in Mathematics.

“I always aspired to study in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) or Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and my interest is in pursuing computer science and artificial intelligence. Now I am preparing for JEE session-2. I studied every day for almost four hours after coming back from college. Our teachers mentored me to face the exams and a lot of mock tests were given to prepare students for the exams,” said Theja.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the result of JEE (Main)-2026, session-1 of paper 1 for the entrance of professional courses like BE/BTech in premier technical institutions like Indian Institute Technologies (IITs), on Monday.

This time, a total of 12 candidates secured 100 percentile score. Rajasthan has highest number of top scorers with three students, followed by Andhra Pradesh with two and one student each from Delhi, Bihar, Odisha, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana has scored 100 percentile marks.

The JEE (Main) 2026 session-1 of paper-1 (BE/BTech) was conducted by the NTA from January 21 to 28 in 658 centres in 326 cities (including 15 cities outside India) across the nation. Among 13,55,293 candidates registered for the examination, a total of 13,04,653 appeared. The exam was held in 13 languages, including Kannada.
