A couple was found dead in Bengaluru in a suspected suicide on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Bhanu Chander Reddy and his wife Shazia. Reddy and his wife were employed as software engineers in private companies and hailed from neighbouring Telangana.

According to police officials, Reddy died by hanging at their residence in Kothanur area. After discovering her husband's body, Shazia reportedly jumped from the 17th floor of their building and died.

Preliminary investigation suggested ongoing marital discord behind the couple's decision to take their own lives. Authorities are also probing whether Reddy's health issues played a role in the incident.

The couple had been married for approximately nine years, having previously lived together in a live-in relationship. Sources told police that there were frequent disputes between them after marriage.

Bengaluru Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Meanwhile, two women were found dead with their throats slit, while two others of the family escaped with injuries on the outskirts of Bengaluru, in an alleged attempt to die in the face of mounting debt, police said on Monday.

Police said Asha (55) and her daughter Varshita (32) were found dead at home with their throats slit. Asha's son Mohan (27) and 10-year-old grandson Mayank Gowda survived with injuries and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.
