Current weather conditions indicate expansion of rainfall activity across Karnataka, with Bengaluru likely to see increasing cloud cover and intermittent showers.

A gradual shift in weather conditions is underway across Karnataka, with cloud cover increasing and pre-monsoon activity beginning to build over several regions. After a brief spell of stable weather, rainfall is expected to return in parts of the state, with alerts now issued for key districts.

For Bengaluru, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a cloudy day tomorrow, with a possibility of rain and thundershowers, especially towards the afternoon and evening. While the city is not under any formal alert, changing wind patterns and moisture inflow could trigger brief spells of rain in several areas.

The expected showers may bring some relief from rising temperatures, but commuters should be prepared for sudden downpours and traffic slowdowns during peak hours.

Yellow Alert Across 7 Districts

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for 7 districts in Karnataka for this week starting tomorrow, warning of moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

The districts under alert include Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada. These regions, largely part of the Malnad and coastal belts, are more prone to intensified rainfall activity during seasonal transitions.

According to IMD forecasts, these districts are expected to receive moderate to heavy rain, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are also likely in isolated pockets.

Weather experts have noted that moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea are strengthening and moving inland, creating favourable conditions for cloud formation and rainfall. The rain is expected to occur in spells, but localised intensity could still be significant.

Caution Advised in Vulnerable Areas

The IMD has advised residents to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to waterlogging, falling trees or sudden weather changes. Lightning activity remains a concern during such conditions, particularly in open spaces.

People in hilly districts such as Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru have been asked to stay alert due to the possibility of sudden heavy rain and reduced visibility. Coastal regions may also witness gusty winds affecting fishing and related activities.

This development indicates a gradual expansion of rainfall activity across Karnataka, with interior regions including Bengaluru likely to see increasing cloud cover and intermittent showers over the next few days.

For now, the state is set for a mix of cloudy skies, rain spells and thunderstorms tomorrow, marking a clear transition towards a wetter weather phase.
