South Central Railway (SCR) has recorded a highest-ever revenue of ₹21,211.92 crore for the financial year 2025-26, marking the best performance since the zone’s inception, according to an official announcement on Wednesday.

The total earnings include ₹13,835.27 crore from freight traffic and ₹6,235.37 crore from the passenger segment. Compared with the previous financial year (2024–25), the revenue reflects a 3.12% growth, making it the fourth consecutive year of record earnings for the zone.

SCR attributed the strong performance to the transportation of 147.87 million tonnes of freight and the handling of 286.44 million passengers during the year. Passenger revenue rose by 9.11% over the previous highest figure of ₹5,714.83 crore and exceeded the target set by the Railway Board by 1.42%.

In addition, the zone earned ₹515.18 crore from other sources, including parcels, ticket-checking penalties and coach bookings. Another ₹626.10 crore was generated from non-fare segments such as parking, catering, retiring rooms and other commercial activities. The consistent growth in freight loading, passenger patronage and non-fare revenues has contributed significantly to SCR’s sustained financial performance, said a press release.
