Kannada actress Bhavana Ramanna recently embraced a new, wrath-filled phase of her life as she embraced motherhood. At the age of 40, the actress chose to become a single parent through IVF and gave birth to twins a few weeks ago, in late August 2025.

However, the joyous occasion came with heartbreak, as only one of her twin daughters survived.

Challenges in pregnancy

As per a report by Udayavani, Bhavana developed health complications during her third trimester, around her seventh month of pregnancy. Doctors also found that one of her twins had health issues, which eventually led to a premature delivery in her eighth month. While the actress gave birth to twin girls, sadly, only one survived.

Despite the difficult circumstances, both Bhavana and her surviving baby girl are now healthy and doing well, according to reports. She had earlier announced her pregnancy on July 4, 2025. Her post consists of her standing by the god idols on the table. She is seen with her baby bump and wrote a long note about her journey with IVF.

"A New Chapter, A New Rhythm. I never imagined I'd be saying this—but here I am, six months pregnant with twins, and filled with gratitude," she wrote.

For Bhavana, who once never thought of motherhood in her 20s and 30s, the desire to be a mother became stronger when she turned 40.She also mentioned the difficulties she shared being a single woman as she described how many clinics flat out rejected her for IVF. "As a single woman, it wasn't easy—lots of IVF clinics rejected me from the moment I walked in the door. But then I met Dr. Sushma, who embraced me and judged me not at all! And so, with her support, I was pregnant on my first attempt," Bhavana wrote.

Family support

She further discussed the support she received from her family: "My father, siblings, and loved ones stood by me with pride and love. Some questioned my choice—but I knew in my heart: I was ready," she wrote. She further expressed that while her children may not have a father, her home will be filled with "art, music, culture, and unconditional love."
