A woman's 'Rose Day' celebrations in Bihar caused her to face police action and a raid, after a video of her giving her husband wine went viral, considering the eastern state's strict alcohol prohibition laws.
Kanchan Devi, who has nearly 300,000 followers on Instagram and resides in Bihar's Munger district, posted the Rose Day video on February 7. It shows her first giving her husband roses and then handing him a glass of wine and bottle. He smiles and takes the items. The reel was shared both on Instagram and Facebook, and quickly went viral.
Devi also shared another video on social media that showed her at a beauty parlour and posing with a pistol.
Munger Superintendent of Police Syed Imran Masood told India Today that no sooner did they receive information about Kanchan Devi's viral reels, they formed an investigation team and raided her house. During the probe, it was discovered that the pistol belonged to one Vishal Kumar, a resident of Deendayal Chowk.
SP Masood said that public display of weapons and promotion of alcohol, which is banned in Bihar, are serious offences.
A case has been registered against both Kanchan Devi and Vishal Kumar, and the police said further action in the matter is being taken.
