The two riders, identified as students from Vijayapura, were flung off the bike on impact and rolled several metres before coming to a halt.

A major accident was narrowly averted in Karnataka’s Mangaluru after a speeding motorcycle crashed into an electric pole, snapping the concrete structure into two due to the force of the impact.

The incident took place around 5 pm on Monday at Kinya Sankesh near Ullal taluk when the motorcycle, reportedly travelling at high speed, lost control and rammed into a roadside electric pole. The collision was so powerful that the pole broke midway and fell onto the road.

The whole incident was captured in CCTV cameras installed in the area.

The two riders, identified as students from Vijayapura, were flung off the bike on impact and rolled several metres before coming to a halt. Despite the intensity of the crash, both miraculously survived without sustaining major injuries.

A passerby immediately stopped to assist the injured students and alerted local residents. Soon, locals gathered at the spot and provided initial aid before shifting the duo to a nearby private hospital for precautionary treatment.

Electricity supply in the area was automatically disconnected after the pole snapped, preventing further danger.

The accident came days after a tragic road mishap near Mangaluru in which a speeding car carrying five passengers collided with a KSRTC bus, killing all five occupants.
