AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said the BJP had once again betrayed the people of Punjab after seven Rajya Sabha MPs quit the party.

In a post on X, Kejriwal said, "The BJP has once again betrayed Punjabis."  The Aam Aadmi Party faces a political setback following the mass defection of its lawmakers from Punjab to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The shift includes the departure of an upper house leader, leaving the state ruling party with a reduced representation in the parliament. The defecting lawmakers have cited a departure from core political agendas as the primary reason for switching allegiances. This development comes shortly after the state ruling party received a favourable court ruling regarding an ongoing excise policy investigation, disrupting their anticipated political revival. The political landscape in the region is now witnessing tensions as both factions prepare to leverage the situation for public perception and electoral gains.
