In a powerful push for the upcoming assembly elections, the BJP is amplifying its grassroots efforts in Assam, centering on 'matrushakti' or the empowerment of women. During her visit to upper Assam, national vice-president Darshana Singh is actively participating in community gatherings, rallying women to bolster the organization at the booth level.
Dibrugarh: As the political atmosphere intensifies ahead of the Assam assembly elections, BJP has ramped up its grassroots mobilisation, focusing specifically on the influence of “matrushakti” (mother power).Darshana Singh, the national vice-president of the BJP Mahila Morcha and a Rajya Sabha MP, is currently spearheading an extensive tour of upper Assam to fortify the party’s foundation at the booth level. On Saturday, Tinsukia district became the focal point of this organisational drive. Singh participated in a series of “chaupal baithaks” — traditional community meetings designed to facilitate direct and informal interaction with local residents.
The day’s proceedings commenced at Booth No. 204 within Ward No. 5 of Tinsukia, where she was joined by local BJP MLA Sanjoy Kishan.Addressing the gathering, Singh said the path to electoral success begins at the smallest unit of democracy. She engaged in detailed strategic deliberations regarding booth-level activity, urging women to take a leading role in the upcoming polls. “Today I had the opportunity to engage in a heartfelt dialogue with our ‘matrushakti’ during the Chaupal programme.
The enthusiasm and resolve of our sisters will surely provide a new direction and momentum to the organisation,” she said. The sessions focused on “matrushakti” as the backbone of the party’s ground strategy. Singh said the dedication and alertness of women workers would be the primary catalyst for victory. Singh’s visit builds on her whirlwind schedule, having traversed Majuli district a day earlier to partake in multiple events aimed at energising party ranks.
