India-US trade talks progress, first part of deal targeted by November
India is hopeful of finalizing a trade deal with the United States, with talks reportedly back on track. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed that there has been "serious progress as far as the US-India trade talks are concerned" and that both sides are satisfied. Following directives from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, the first part of the bilateral trade agreement is targeted for completion by November 2025. While negotiations are moving in a positive direction, with a US delegation expected to visit India, the Indian government remains firm on its stance. It has been made clear that key sectors such as agriculture and dairy farms will not be opened up to the United States as part of the deal.
