Jay Pawar, son of Ajit Pawar, demands a detailed probe into the fatal plane crash that killed his father

Jay Pawar, the younger son of Ajit Pawar, has demanded a comprehensive probe into the Baramati plane crash that claimed his father’s life. Pawar, along with four others, was killed when the aircraft carrying them crashed while attempting to land at Baramati Airport in Pune on January 28.

In a post on social media, Jay Pawar stressed that an aircraft’s black box cannot be destroyed easily.

“The black box cannot be destroyed easily. The people of Maharashtra have the right to know the transparent and whole truth of the crash," he wrote.

Jay Pawar further sought a ban on VSR Ventures Private Limited, the aviation firm that operated the Learjet 45XR aircraft.

“A detailed investigation of possible serious lapses and irregularities of the aircraft firm should be done in a detailed and impartial manner", he wrote.

NCP LEADERS DEMAND CBI PROBE

The statement comes a day after a delegation of senior party leaders, including Ajit Pawar’s widow Sunetra Pawar; NCP National Working President and MP Praful Patel; State President and MP Sunil Tatkare; Maharashtra medical education minister Hasan Mushrif and youth leader Parth Pawar, met with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and sought a CBI-led investigation.

Earlier, Rohit Pawar — NCP (SP) MLA and the nephew of Ajit Pawar — raised suspicion over the incident, seeking a thorough investigation into the same. He alleged that there was a reason to suspect sabotage in the crash.

He also questioned the track record of Captain Sumit Kapoor, who was piloting the aircraft on the day of the incident, citing his previous three-year suspension due to alcohol consumption.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are currently leading a probe into the incident.

The AAIB has said that special support has been sought for the retrieval of data from the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) of the Learjet 45 plane.
