Bommai flags ‘triple entry’ of HK Patil in voter rolls, alleges SIR lapses

Gadag: Haveri MP Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday alleged major irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, claiming former minister HK Patil’s name appeared three times in the voter list.Speaking to reporters, Bommai said the name of Hulakoti resident Hanumanthagouda Krishnagouda Patil figured twice in Booth No. 143 and once in Booth No. 153. “If a responsible minister’s name appears three times, what would be the situation of ordinary voters?” he asked.Bommai alleged widespread lapses in the revision process, claiming many Booth Level Officers (BLOs) had not been reporting for duty. “Despite complaints to the tahsildar, no action has been taken.

Around 20-25 BLOs are absent in each constituency,” he said.He claimed similar discrepancies were found in Ron constituency and alleged that duplicate, triplicate and multiple voter entries had surfaced. According to him, 3,804 duplicate votes were identified in Ron and 2,305 duplicate and triple entries in Gadag constituency.Bommai further alleged that forms were being distributed without proper house-to-house verification and that complaints had been filed regarding alleged irregularities in Bankapur. He also questioned whether officials could verify 1,000 voters in a booth within a month.
