Bondada Engineering Limited (BEL) announced ground-breaking for a landmark project under the National Mission for Automatic Train Protection costing approximately ₹229 crore at Nancherla station in the Guntakal division of South Central Railway (SCR) zone.

The project will enhance railway safety and communication infrastructure across 1,618 route kilometres of high-density network sections combining the indigenous Kavach collision avoidance technology with an advanced 4G LTE-R telecom system.

It encompasses civil, and telecom works across three critical high-density network sections — Balharshah–Vijayawada–Gudur (748 route km), Vijayawada–Duvvada (333 route km), and Wadi–Guntakal–Renigunta (537 route km).

According to an official release, BEL will construct 452 new telecom towers, including 164 cyclonic and 288 non-cyclonic design structures, while executing 173 kilometres of trenching and laying work.

The telecom infrastructure includes the supply and laying of 142 kilometers of 24 fiber optic cables with HDPE ducts and 259 kilometers of 12 core power cables.

Chairman and managing director of BEL Bondada Raghavendra Rao said the project reflects the company’s unwavering commitment to enabling safe, smart and future-ready railways for India by combining its civil engineering expertise with advanced telecom integration.

The project will position SCR at the forefront of modern railway safety systems, contributing to India’s vision of a world-class transportation infrastructure and reinforce BEL’s reputation as a leading infrastructure development company in the railway sector.
