An IndiGo’s scheduled return flight to Bhopal was cancelled on Saturday after it failed to land on its first attempt at Raipur’s Swami Vivekananda Airport, officials said.
The ATR aircraft, arriving from Bhopal, approached the runway at around 2:50 pm but was unable to complete the landing due to unspecified reasons. The pilot then executed a go-around procedure, keeping the aircraft airborne for several minutes before making a safe landing on the second attempt, news agency PTI reported.
Airport officials confirmed that the scheduled return service to Bhopal was cancelled following the incident without providing more details.
A passenger on board said the aircraft briefly touched down before lifting off again, causing momentary concern among those on board. The situation was brought under control after the safe landing, and no injuries were reported.
In another incident, a bomb scare was reported at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday after a handwritten note claiming the presence of a bomb was found inside a Shillong-bound IndiGo aircraft, officials said.
The note was found in the lavatory of IndiGo flight 6E 7304, which was scheduled to depart for Shillong at around 9:15 am.
Airport authorities said the message was spotted by a crew member during the boarding process, before the aircraft took off.
Following the alert, all passengers were safely deboarded and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay as a precautionary measure.
