Broken, rusted, neglected: Open gyms cry for repairs in Noida

Noida: Residents of several sectors have flagged the poor condition of open gyms in their neighbourhoods. They alleged that the public fitness facilities are either broken, rusted or neglected, posing accident risks and leaving residents without access to recreational resources.“The only open gym opposite ‘L’ Park in C block is absolutely dilapidated and requires immediate attention,” said Sector 52 resident KP Singh Raghav.Several RWA leaders across the city have voiced their concerns, with residents saying maintenance work needs to be conducted urgently.RWA general secretary of Sector 51, Sanjeev Kumar, said the facilities in his sector are in a state of disrepair. In Sector 53, RWA president of Kanchanjunga Apartments Chandan Kumar called the condition of the nearby open gym “disappointing”.In Sector 72, residents said the gym and its flooring require significant improvements, while the Sector 12 RWA president said that gyms in Shimla Park and Priyadarshini Park are in dire need of repairs and subsequent maintenance.Sector 52 resident Ashok Sharma echoed similar sentiments as he alleged the open gym in the sector has been in a state of disrepair for years now. “This gym has not seen any real improvement despite being marked as ‘repaired’ on paper multiple times.

There is no one to get it fixed,” he said.Residents demanded swift action to restore these facilities to ensure access to fitness and leisure activities across these sectors. Noida officials, meanwhile, said that plans are underway to conduct repairs at open gyms across the city.
