The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested 15 Pakistani fishermen and seized an engine-fitted country boat near the Indo-Pak border in Gujarat’s Kutch district, the BSF reported on Sunday.
The BSF conducted a search operation on Saturday on the basis of a specific information regarding an unidentified boat found in the general area of the border outpost at Kori Creek in the state’s Kutch region, it said.
“An extensive search was carried out in the adjoining bets and during the search, 15 Pakistani fishermen were apprehended along with one engine-fitted country boat," the BSF said in a release.
The detained fishermen are Pakistani nationals from Sujawal district in Sindhi province of the neighbouring country. They were located in the general area of the BSF’s 68th battalion border outpost.
As per the information shared by BSF, the boat was carrying around 60 kg of fish, nine fishing nets, diesel, ice, food items, and wooden sticks. Additionally, a mobile phone and Rs 200 in Pakistani currency were also confiscated from their possession.
BSF Nabs Senior Bangladeshi Police Officer
Earlier on Saturday, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a senior officer of the Bangladesh Police as he attempted to illegally enter Indian territory in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, according to top government officials.
The infiltrator, whose identity remains undisclosed due to an ongoing investigation, was arrested near the Hakimpur Border Outpost between 6 pm and 7 pm.
“The officer was intercepted by BSF troops during routine patrolling. On searching him, the force recovered some identity documents, confirming that the intruder was a senior Bangladeshi Police officer," the officials told ANI, requesting anonymity.
The India-Bangladesh border, spanning 4,096 km, is one of the longest international borders in the world and frequently encounters cases of infiltration, smuggling, and illegal crossings. West Bengal alone accounts for nearly 2,217 km of this stretch, making it a sensitive zone for security agencies.
