In a case of a security breach, a man tried to approach Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and kissed him during his bike rally as part of ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar’s Purnea on Sunday.
The incident took place on Sunday when the Congress leader and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav rode motorbikes during their yatra to target the government over alleged voter theft and take their serious charges of “vote chori" among people ahead of the Assembly Elections in the state later this year.
Wearing a helmet, Gandhi was driving the two-wheeler with Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) president and Kutumba MLA Rajesh Kumar riding pillion. Tejashwi Yadav also took a motorcycle to ride along.
On the way, a man, breaching the security, came running and kissed the Congress leader. The peck on his cheek made the Lok Sabha MP stop the bike for a moment while a security personnel riding pillion on Yadav’s bike alighted, ran, caught the person who had indulged in the public display of affection, and slapped him.
The incident also alerted the CRPF security personnel travelling along with the Congress leader, and they pushed ahead to strengthen the protective cover around him.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms.
People who attended Rahul’s rally were seen easily getting close to him, hugging, and even pulling his hand while he was riding the bike. However, this particular instance of a man kissing Gandhi went viral.
Social media users have highlighted multiple security lapses throughout the event. One perosn shared images stating, “There were multiple security breaches during the bike rally of LoP Rahul Gandhi. People were easily getting close to him, There weren’t enough security personnel to manage the crowd around him."

Voter Adhikaar Yatra
The 16-day Yatra in Bihar is being carried out by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, who aim to target the government over alleged voter theft and take their serious charges of “vote chori" among people ahead of the Assembly Elections in the state later this year.
The Yatra entered its eighth day on Sunday and will conclude in Patna on September 1.
The two leaders have alleged irregularities in the voter list, accusing the Election Commission of India of deliberately adding names of voters to favour the BJP.
The Yatra will cover over 1,300 km across 20 districts in the state and will conclude in Patna.
The polls are slated to be held later this year, though the ECI has yet to announce the schedule for the same.
