Conor McGregor’s long-awaited UFC return lasted just over a minute, and Jake Paul was quick to react. McGregor suffered a knee injury early in his UFC 329 comeback fight after throwing a jumping switch kick, forcing the contest to end almost immediately.
The Irish fighter had entered the cage for the first time in five years, but his return ended in disappointment before he could settle into the fight. While fans were still processing what had happened, Jake Paul took to social media with a mocking response that sparked strong reactions from both supporters and critics. The exchange quickly became one of the biggest talking points after UFC 329.
Jake Paul mocks Conor McGregor after UFC 329 injury
According to Yahoo Sports reporter Ryan Harkness, Jake Paul responded to McGregor’s injury by posting 47 laughing emojis on social media shortly after the fight ended.Paul then shared a video in which he appeared to imitate McGregor’s movement before pretending to limp and fall into a swimming pool. Alongside the clip, he wrote: “Recap for those who didn’t watch.”The post immediately drew attention online. While some followers found the joke amusing, many others criticized Paul for mocking a fighter who had just suffered a serious setback during his comeback.
McGregor had spent years at the center of combat sports headlines, and his return was one of the most anticipated events of the year.
That made the abrupt ending even more surprising for fans who had waited years to see him compete again.
Jake Paul later sends message of support to Conor McGregor
Several hours after his initial posts, Paul changed his tone and shared a more supportive message directed at McGregor. He wrote: “Bulls**t aside, prayers for you and your family. God does not like ugly, but God always forgives. Forgiveness is unconditional and limitless, provided through faith and sincere repentance.”The message stood in sharp contrast to his earlier reaction. It also came after many social media users reminded Paul about setbacks in his own career, including recent criticism following a high-profile defeat.Even though Paul and McGregor have traded verbal shots for years, the injury appeared to shift the conversation, at least temporarily, from rivalry to concern about McGregor’s future.
Conor McGregor and Jake Paul rivalry remains in focus
The relationship between McGregor and Paul has been tense for years.
Paul repeatedly called for a fight against the former UFC champion and often used McGregor’s name while building his boxing career.More recently, however, Paul suggested he had moved beyond the idea of facing McGregor and no longer viewed him as a necessary opponent. McGregor, on the other hand, previously said he would consider fighting major influencer figures after his traditional fighting career was over. That history is one reason why Paul’s reaction gained so much attention after UFC 329.Interestingly, McGregor did not mention Paul during the UFC 329 media tour. Still, the Paul brothers were indirectly referenced in a recent Polymarket advertisement featuring McGregor. One of the social media comments shown in the commercial read: “Conor is one loss away from fighting a Paul brother!”Now, after a comeback that ended almost as soon as it began, questions are once again being asked about what comes next for McGregor. Before any discussion about future opponents can begin, his focus will likely be on recovering from the injury and deciding whether another return to competition is possible.
