BUSA threatens strike, demands security

Patna: The Bihar Urban Service Association (BUSA) has threatened a statewide indefinite strike of all executive officers and municipal staff following the murder of Krishna Bhushan Prasad, executive officer of Sultanganj Nagar Parishad.A press release issued by BUSA said that three unidentified individuals entered the premises and fired eight rounds, striking both the EO and the council chairman during a meeting. In response, the Bihar govt provided Prasad with a funeral with state honours in Madhubani on Wednesday morning.BUSA members met CM Samrat Chaudhary, chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit and urban development and housing department (UDHD) principal secretary Vinay Kumar on Wednesday to discuss security lapses.

BUSA general secretary Arvind Kumar Singh said while compensation has been provided to the deceased’s family, the association demands a bigger package, a nagar parishad job for Prasad’s wife and the immediate identification and prosecution of the killers through a speedy trial.The association has also demanded mandatory security guards for all EOs on duty. Singh noted that a formal request for police protection was submitted in May 2025, but the govt did not act on the proposal.

Association coordinator Siddharth Harshvardhan and vice president Jay Kumar said that approximately 80 executive officers attended the funeral rites of the killed officer.The association has scheduled an internal meeting in Patna for Thursday to finalise its demands. If the terms are not met, the strike will proceed.
