The results of seven key bypolls, held alongside the counting for the West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry assembly elections, were declared, with the BJP securing 4 seats, Congress winning 2, and the NCP claiming one.

In one of the most significant results, Sunetra Pawar, wife of the late Ajit Pawar, secured a resounding victory in the Baramati Assembly bypoll in Maharashtra.

Sunetra Pawar Triumphs In Baramati

She won the seat with a massive margin of 2,18,034 votes, breaking her husband’s previous record of 1.65 lakh votes. The bypoll was necessitated by the sudden demise of Ajit Pawar in a tragic plane crash earlier this year.

Sunetra Pawar’s overwhelming win is seen as a tribute to her late husband’s legacy and leadership. She defeated RY Ghutukade Sir of the New Rashtriya Samaj Party (NRSP), who received a significantly lower vote share. Pawar’s victory margin became the highest ever in the Baramati constituency, sending a strong message of trust and support for the NCP.

Congress Celebrates Wins In Bagalkot, Davanagere South

In Karnataka, Congress registered wins in two key constituencies. Samarth Mallikarjun won the Davanagere South bypoll by a margin of 5,708 votes, defeating BJP’s Srinivasa T. Dasakariyappa. This seat was made vacant following the death of Congress leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa. Despite a trailing start, Mallikarjun, who is the grandson of Shivashankarappa, secured a victory with 69,578 votes.

In Bagalkot, Congress candidate Umesh Meti triumphed by a margin of 22,332 votes, overcoming BJP’s Veerabhadrayya Charantimath. The bypoll in Bagalkot was necessitated after the passing of senior Congress MLA H.Y. Meti. Meti garnered 75,878 votes, showcasing Congress’ stronghold in the region.

BJP Wins Big In Koridang, Umreth, Rahuri

The BJP made strong showings across multiple states. In Nagaland, BJP candidate Daochier I Imchen emerged victorious in the Koridang bypoll by securing 7,317 votes, defeating Independent candidate Toshikaba by a margin of over 3,000 votes. The bypoll was held after the death of his father, a five-time MLA from the region. Imchen’s victory solidified his place as the youngest legislator in the Nagaland Assembly.

In Gujarat, Harshad Parmar, contesting from his late father’s seat in Umreth, claimed a victory with a significant margin of over 30,000 votes. The bypoll was necessitated by the sudden death of his father, BJP MLA Govind Parmar. Harshad garnered 85,500 votes, while his Congress rival Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan polled 54,757 votes.

Similarly, in Maharashtra’s Rahuri constituency, BJP retained the seat after Akshay Kardile defeated NCP’s Govind Mokate by a margin of over 1.12 lakh votes. The bypoll was necessitated after the death of Kardile’s father, Shivajirao Kardile, a former MLA. Akshay received a total of 1,40,093 votes, solidifying BJP’s position in the state.

BJP Secures Dharmanagar Seat In Tripura

In Tripura, BJP’s Jahar Chakraborti won the Dharmanagar bypoll by a margin of 18,920 votes, defeating CPI(M)’s Amitabha Datta. The seat had fallen vacant after the passing of Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen. Chakraborti’s victory strengthens BJP’s position in the state’s 60-member assembly, where it now holds 33 seats.

With an impressive turnout of 79.84%, Chakraborti secured 24,291 votes, cementing BJP’s influence in the region. Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed gratitude to the people of Dharmanagar, reaffirming BJP’s commitment to the development and peace of the region.
