Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday (September 12, 2025) said the State Cabinet would discuss the report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s alleged links with Pakistan after the Bodoland Territorial Council elections.
The elections to the 40 constituencies of the council, which governs the Bodoland Territorial Region, are scheduled for September 22.
The Chief Minister stated that the 96-page SIT report submitted to the government was a “very explosive” document. He said the SIT recovered several documents relating to India’s security.
“An anti-India cartel has been working to undermine development in the country. Within this cartel, a Pakistani citizen and the British wife of the [Congress] MP have played a significant role,” he told journalists.
The MP’s British wife is Elisabeth Colburn Gogoi, who worked on a project in Pakistan.
Mr. Gogoi, also the Assam Congress president, accused the Chief Minister of fabricating the charges against him and attempting to mislead the people.
