Call to end discrimination in pension to retired soldiers

The All India Welfare Association of Ex-Army AVN Technicians (AIWAEAAT) has demanded urgent measures to end discrimination in pension payment to retired soldiers.

The association called for the restructuring and amendment of One Rank One Pension-3 scheme for granting equal pension to pre-2006 retirees in line with the principle of ‘equal pension for equal rank.’ In a petition to BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the association’s national president George P.J. and national general secretary Chandra Sekhara Pillai S. demanded justice for senior pensioners who, it said, continue to be affected by outdated classifications. Anomalies in the existing scheme should be resolved in the forthcoming Pay Commission through the proper fixation of modified assured career progression table, the association said.
