Sri Gidugu Ramamurthy Telugu Bhasha and Janapada Kalapeetham founder Badri Kurmarao on Friday urged the government to continue Telugu medium instruction in primary schools to ensure students have a strong foundation in the mother tongue and understand Telugu culture, tradition and history. Mr. Badri along with other members of the association made the appeal while paying tributes to modern linguist and writer Gidiugu Venkata Ramamurthy (1863-1940) on the occasion of the latter’s birth anniversary.
Mr Badri warned that the 3,000 years history of Telugu language would vanish if the government did not take steps to protect it.
Gamyam NGO founder Vemali Chaitnya Babu , Vizianagaram Zilla Grandhalaya Seva Sangham president Abdul Ravoof celebrated Gidiugu Venkata Ramamurthy’s birth anniversary at the Tirumala Nursing College. They said that Gidiugu Ramamurthy along with poet Gurajada Apparao dedicated their lives to safeguard the Telugu language during the British rule.
