A car carrying a doctor couple caught fire on Sunday morning in Maharashtra’s Beed district, police said. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The incident happened around 6.15 am near the Mahajanwadi crossroad on the Manjarsumba-Patoda road in Beed tehsil, while the couple was on their way to their farmland.

They noticed smoke coming from the car and immediately stopped and got out. Moments later, the vehicle burst into flames, police said.

The car was badly damaged in the fire, which created panic in the area for a short time.

Initial reports suggest that a short circuit in the wiring may have caused the fire. Local residents and the Mahajanwadi sarpanch helped put out the flames.
