Caught On Cam: Madhya Pradesh BJP Leader Assaults Woman In Satna, Draws Congress's Ire

Satna district BJP general secretary took cognizance of the matter and issued a show-cause notice to the accused party functionary.

A 25-year-old woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna accused BJP Nagod Mandal President Pulkit Tandon of assaulting and molesting her. A video of the entire incident was caught on camera, and the footage went viral. The woman, who also owns a beauty parlour, alleged that Tandon gave her death threats. The incident triggered a political row in the state, and Congress criticised the ruling BJP and demanded action.

As per the reports, the incident took place on Tuesday, and the video shows the BJP functionary assaulting the woman repeatedly.

In light of the footage, Satna district BJP general secretary Ramakant Gautam has issued a show-cause notice to Tandon, demanding his response within a week.

Congress shared the video of the incident and criticised the act. An excerpt from the Congress’ post reads, “Where BJP’s Mandal President Pulkit Tandon is brutally beating a woman by chasing her around. The woman fell onto a pile of rods, but this monster continued to mercilessly thrash her. After this incident, Pulkit threatened the woman and her daughter to settle the matter quietly, because no one could touch him."

Nagod Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDOP) Raghu Kesari told PTI that a case has been registered against Tandon and another person at his police station based on a complaint filed by the 25-year-old woman.

In her complaint, the victim stated that Tandon was consuming alcohol inside the warehouse. When she attempted to leave upon witnessing this, Tandon allegedly grabbed her hand. She responded by throwing his mobile phone and trying to flee. The complaint further alleges that Tandon threw a liquor bottle at her and assaulted her.

The woman claims that Tandon slapped her multiple times and pushed her onto a bundle of iron rods lying on the ground. When her family members arrived to help, Tandon allegedly assaulted them as well.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Premlal Kurve stated that the woman filed a complaint against Tandon and one R. K. Namdev, who works for the accused, at the Nagod police station, and a case has been registered against them.
