CBSE Class 10 Hindi exam 2026 review: Easy to moderate paper, teachers flag changes in poetry questions
The CBSE Class 10 Hindi examination was conducted on March 2, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM across the country. Over 25 lakh students appeared for the three-hour paper, which assessed their proficiency in grammar, comprehension, prose, poetry and writing skills.
Initial feedback from students suggested that the paper was easy to moderate in difficulty, though slightly time-consuming.
Students say paper manageable but lengthyStudents Radhika and Riya described the overall paper as easy and within expectations. However, they noted that the exam required careful time management.“The paper was easy but a bit time-consuming. We hope to score good marks,” they said, adding that most questions were familiar and based on classroom preparation.
Several students shared similar views, stating that while the questions were not difficult, the length of the paper required steady pacing to complete all sections comfortably.Teacher flags changes in poetry sectionSanjesh Sharma, TGT Hindi at SKV SRC Khajoori Khas Chowk, said the paper was slightly challenging in certain areas, particularly poetry.“The poem introduction was tough. Earlier, it used to come in the options.
Also, figures of speech (alankaar) used to be asked directly, but this time they were asked through examples. Students were only required to write the examples. So, this paper was a bit difficult. However, since the students’ preparation was good, they did not face any problems,” she said.According to Sharma, the overall preparation level of students helped them handle these changes without major difficulty.Section-wise overviewGrammar and comprehension: The grammar portion remained important and scoring for students with strong fundamentals.
Unseen passages tested understanding and the ability to write answers in one’s own words rather than relying on memorised content.Prose and poetry: While prose questions were largely direct and syllabus-based, the poetry section required conceptual clarity, especially in identifying literary elements and explaining context.Writing section: Formal writing tasks such as letters and information-based questions followed familiar formats, though students needed to manage time carefully to complete them.Overall difficulty levelTeachers described the paper as easy to moderate, with a few competency-based elements designed to test understanding rather than rote learning. The length of the paper made time management an important factor, but most students were able to attempt all sections. With the Hindi examination now over, students will move ahead with their remaining board papers as the CBSE Class 10 examination cycle continues.
