CCTV, 21 witnesses key to chargesheet against man for killing twin daughters

Kanpur...............................3(Faiz)Times News NetworkKanpur: The Naubasta police in Kanpur have filed a chargesheet against Shashiranjan Mishra, accused of murdering his 11-year-old twin daughters by slitting their throats inside their apartment.

The 220-page chargesheet relies on CCTV footage capturing the entire incident, electronic evidence, and statements from 21 witnesses, including the girls’ mother, relatives, domestic help, the apartment watchman, the doctor who conducted the post-mortem, and investigating police officers.Shashiranjan, a manager at a pharmaceutical firm, lived in Kidwai Nagar with his wife, Reshma Chhetri, their 11-year-old twin daughters and their six-year-old son.

On April 19 at 4:32 am, he called the police control room to report that his daughters had been murdered.When police reached the apartment, they found him sitting near the bodies of his daughters in the room where the CCTV camera had captured the incident. A blood-stained cleaver and a hammer, allegedly used in the crime, were recovered from the spot. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to first strangling both girls and then slitting their throats using the cleaver, which he struck with the hammer.

According to the investigation, the CCTV footage shows the first daughter being killed at 1:50 am and the second at 3:35 am. Naubasta Inspector Bahadur Singh said the 220-page chargesheet was filed on the basis of witness testimonies, CCTV footage and other electronic evidence.
