New CCTV footage has surfaced showing the moments leading up to the fatal road accident in Delhi’s Dwarka that claimed the life of 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra, with visuals indicating that the Scorpio SUV allegedly driven by a minor was over-speeding shortly before the collision.

The footage, recorded near Lal Bahadur Shastri College in Dwarka South on February 3, captures the SUV moving at high speed along the stretch moments before the crash.

In the video, the vehicle is seen narrowly missing a bus while travelling at speed, before appearing to lose lane discipline.

As the bus approached, the SUV could be seen veering across the road seconds before it rammed into Sahil’s motorcycle, resulting in a devastating impact that killed the rider on the spot.

According to news agency ANI, the accident took place after a PCR call was received at around 11.57 am reporting a serious road crash.

Police registered an FIR at Dwarka South Police Station under Sections 281/106(1)/125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

When officers reached the location, they found three damaged vehicles along with a motorcycle.

The rider, later identified as Sahil Dhaneshra (23), was declared dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the car allegedly collided with a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction and subsequently hit another parked vehicle.

Police said the accused driver, a minor without a driving licence, was apprehended at the spot and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), which sent him to an Observation Home.

On February 10, the JJB granted him interim bail, considering his Class 10 board examinations, adding that all vehicles have been seized and mechanically inspected while CCTV footage from the area has been collected.

The accused’s lawyer, Lal Singh Thakur, described the incident as “very unfortunate and painful" and said the teenager and his family were under immense psychological stress.

“Especially that child, who has to take his board exams today, he isn’t able to do so properly, an accident has had a huge impact on his life," Thakur said.

He further argued that the boy cooperated with authorities and did not attempt to escape.

“This boy did not flee the scene. The family presented the child at the police station," he told ANI, while also appealing that the matter should not turn into a “media trial," claiming the family had received threatening calls.

Separately, the accused’s father told ANI that the family was “deeply grief-stricken" and assured full cooperation with investigators.

He stated that the vehicle involved was part of a commercial fleet and said challans linked to it were issued due to other drivers.

“This is a heartbreaking incident. There is deep grief in the entire family, for that family as well as for ourselves," he said.

Police confirmed that Sahil’s post-mortem has been conducted and the statement of an injured taxi driver has been recorded, while further investigation into the crash remains underway.
