SAGAR: The sole breadwinner of his family, 15-year-old Vivek Bansal stepped out of his home late Thursday night to earn his daily wage as a band performer--never knowing he would not return.Vivek was killed after celebratory gunfire erupted during a wedding procession in Sagar district. The incident occurred near Gola Kuan under the jurisdiction of Moti Nagar police station.He was part of the wedding band hired for a ceremony at a marriage garden. As the procession moved through the area with music and dancing, a young man in the crowd allegedly fired a pistol in celebration. The bullet struck Vivek in the chest, and he collapsed instantly, triggering panic among the revellers.Bystanders caught hold of the suspected shooter and handed him over to the police. Vivek was rushed to a nearby private hospital and later referred in critical condition to Bundelkhand Medical College, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.Police have seized drone cameras that were recording the procession and believe the footage will help establish who fired the shot and the intent behind it.Vivek was the only son of his family and supported them financially through his work with the band. Grief turned into anger after his death, with family members staging protests outside the hospital and later the police station, demanding a murder case against the accused. The protests ended after police assured strict action.
