The Government hikes windfall tax on diesel to ₹55.5 per litre and ATF ₹42 per litre with immediate effect

The government on Saturday (April 11, 2026) hiked export duty, or windfall tax, on diesel to ₹55.5 per litre and on aviation fuel ATF to ₹42 a litre.

The duty hikes would be applicable with immediate effect, the Finance Ministry said in a notification.
