Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday said that the Centre is prepared to supply an additional two lakh metric tonnes of urea to farmers, having already released 20,000 metric tonnes for the current agricultural season at the State Government’s request.

He urged farmers not to purchase urea from the black market, asserting that there is “no shortage” as the Modi Government has provided a surplus quantity to the State.

Speaking to the media during his one-day tour of Chevella district on Thursday, Mr. Rao assured farmers that under the Modi Government, they would not face any difficulty or loss.

He also criticised the Congress Government and its leaders for allegedly spreading “false information” and creating “fear” among farmers about an “artificial scarcity” of urea. Earlier, Mr. Rao visited a local shop selling fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides to inquire about farmers’ concerns and the availability of urea. During one of his media interactions, he attributed a technical snag at the Ramagundam fertilizer plant to “discrepancies” in production, but said the issue had been resolved. He is scheduled to stay overnight at Nanchair village.

Hogwash

In a separate press conference at the State BJP office, former MLA and party vice-president N.V.S.S. Prabhakar criticised the government over recent electrocution-related deaths. He questioned the effectiveness of the Chief Minister’s review meetings on monsoon emergency preparedness, calling them a “hogwash.”

He pointed to overflowing drains, damaged roads, and accumulating garbage in the capital region, questioning how the Government could plan a “fourth city” when it was struggling to maintain basic civic infrastructure in the twin cities and Cyberabad.

Mr. Prabhakar also condemned the State’s liquor policy, stating that the BJP supports regulation of liquor production and distribution. He warned that unrestricted sale and supply could devastate families, even if it generates revenue for the Government.
