Dumka/Dhanbad: State chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar on Tuesday began a two-day tour of Santhal Pargana from Madhupur subdivision in Deoghar district to review ongoing works for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls which will begin from June 30.Kumar later attended a special training programme for booth level officers (BLOs) and supervisors, interacted with them to discuss and address the challenges on the ground. Addressing the officials, Kumar stressed on the importance of maintaining transparency in the entire process.From Madhupur, he proceeded to Dumka district, where he inspected an SIR training programme at the Jarmundi block auditorium. “Our priority is that no eligible voter is excluded and no ineligible person is included,” he said.In a related development, a two-day training programme for BLOs and BLO supervisors, which began across the state, concluded on Tuesday. In Dhanbad, training was conducted by electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant EROs in accordance with directives of the Election Commission.Dhanbad deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer Aditya Ranjan said that during the training, BLOs and supervisors got detailed guidance on the procedures, timelines, maintenance of records, house-to-house verification, and other guidelines prescribed by the EC.
During the training, BLOs and supervisors were informed that under the SIR, verification of every voter will be carried out through enumeration forms between June 30 and July 29. BLOs will visit households within their respective polling areas, establish contact with voters, and distribute pre-printed forms.The officials explained that voters will be required to fill out the forms and return them to BLOs within the stipulated period. The form will be issued only once to each voter, and citizens have been advised to fill it carefully without making errors or damaging the document. Trainees were also instructed to maintain all collected forms properly and submit daily progress reports to the office of the ERO concerned.
