A major illegal conversion racket has been busted in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, with the arrest of Jamaluddin, alias Changur Baba. Now in the custody of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Special Task Force (STF), he is accused of targeting poor and vulnerable individuals, especially girls, for religious conversion using coercion, threats, and psychological manipulation. Authorities suspect the operation was being funded by foreign sources.
The investigation has uncovered a series of disturbing revelations. One of the most alarming is the existence of a group of 50 young men who operated under Changur Baba’s direct command. According to the FIR filed by the UP ATS, these individuals were deeply involved in conversion activities and also served as enforcers—spreading fear, exerting pressure, and inciting violence at the local level.
These youths led comfortable lives in Changur Baba’s luxurious mansion in Balrampur, where they had access to separate rooms, food, clothing, and other necessities. They were also indoctrinated within the mansion, and Baba’s commands were absolute.
Changur Baba, portraying himself as a religious leader, referred to these youths as “spiritual servants". However, they were receiving structured training and displayed unwavering loyalty, obeying all orders, legal or otherwise.
It has been revealed that these youths have been involved in several incidents of assault, threats, and forced conversions of local residents. Though some complaints reached the police, no action was taken due to Changur Baba’s strong influence. These youths, acting as an informal security squad, were reportedly prepared to execute any order from Baba.
Currently, the ATS is conducting a thorough investigation into the identities, backgrounds, and activities of these 50 youths. The focus is on understanding their roles in various conversion cases and whether they were used for any international agendas.
Sources suggest that some youths were brought in from other states and mentally and ideologically prepared for their roles. The ATS is determined to uncover the full scale of the operation and the real motive behind the group of 50 men working under Changur Baba’s command.
