Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday chaired a meeting in the Secretariat in Chennai and reviewed the law and order situation in the State. Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, Home Secretary Dheeraj Kumar, and Director-General of Police Shankar Jiwal, were among those present at the meeting.
In another event, he launched the distribution of promotion orders to police personnel as per the State government’s revised time-bound promotion process. The revised policy for promotion for a certain category of police personnel came into effect from June 12 this year. The earlier 10+5+10 promotion process in the police force has been revised to 10+3+10.
The assured career progression has been implemented in line with the announcement Mr. Stalin made in the Assembly. The revision aims to reduce delay in the promotion of police personnel and ensure stable growth in their careers. As per the revised procedure, a police constable Grade-II will be promoted to Grade-I in 10 years, and then to head constable in three years instead of five. After 23 years of service, they will be promoted to special sub-inspectors. An official release said a sum of ₹28.19 crore had been allotted for implementing the revised promotion process.
In yet another event, Mr. Stalin distributed appointment orders to new recruits for the Commissionerate of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission as well as the Medical Services Recruitment Board. Health Minister Ma. Subramanian and senior officials were among those present.
