In a setback for China, its attempt to launch a powerful privately developed rocket ended in failure on Friday after a mid-flight anomaly.
The rocket, named Tianlong-3, lifted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in the Gobi Desert at around 12.17pm local time, according to its developer, Beijing-based startup Space Pioneer.
However, the mission did not go as planned. The company said the rocket encountered an “anomaly" during flight, leading to a launch failure. It added that the exact cause is under investigation and apologised to partners.
