Minister for General Education N. Samsudheen has urged students to choose study and career options based on their aptitude and interest.

He was speaking after performing the State-level inauguration of Focus Point, a career orientation programme organised by the Career Guidance and Adolescent Counselling Cell of the General Education department, at Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill, here on Wednesday.

In his first official event after taking charge as Minister, Mr. Samsudheen pointed out the significance of selecting avenues for further studies on the basis of aptitude and interest, particularly at the Class X level.

Focus Point was held in all 1,680 higher secondary schools in the State to guide students on how to plan their studies and careers. Students and parents were also informed about aspects they should pay attention to when applying for Plus One single-window admission such as 46 combinations available in higher secondary education in the State, higher education possibilities available through each of these combinations.

Umesh N.S.K., outgoing Director of General Education, presided over the event. Shajitha S., Joint Director (Academic), and Azeem C.M., State coordinator, Higher Secondary Education wing, were present.
