Class X student dies after breathing difficulty at Noida school

Noida: A Class X student died after suffering a medical emergency at a private school on Wednesday. The student experienced breathing difficulties while playing on the school ground in the afternoon, police said.

School officials said the boy had a history of respiratory issues and was required to carry an inhaler, which his parents had left behind that morning.Staff members administered first aid and provided oxygen support before rushing him to a nearby private hospital, school officials said. He died despite the medical intervention. The incident initially raised concerns over the school’s response time. However, the student’s parents later said in an official school communication group that they had reviewed CCTV footage of the day and found no delay or negligence by the school in handling the emergency. The school said its staff acted without delay, following emergency protocols to provide immediate assistance and arrange the student’s transfer to hospital.Police said no complaint had been filed in connection with the death as of the time of reporting.Last year, an FIR was registered against the management of Presidium School after a Class 6 student collapsed on campus and died. On Sept 4, 10-year-old Tanishka Sharma was at the school when she collapsed after she allegedly choked on food that got stuck in her windpipe.

The girl was declared dead by the time she was taken to a hospital.District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) Rajesh Kumar Singh flagged lapses in the school’s security apparatus and noted that 16 CCTV cameras were not adequate to cover the entire campus. A report filed by Singh said the girl had collapsed in one of the several spots not covered by CCTV inside the school.
