The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the early morning hours. News of his death quickly spread across the NHL, bringing emotional reactions from former teammates, teams, league officials, and fans around the world.One of the most emotional tributes came from his son, former NHL player Brendan Lemieux. Sharing a family photo on social media, Brendan wrote, “I love you dad! My son’s favorite person is going to watch from above for a while.

We will see you.” He also posted another picture showing his father with his grandson and added the caption, “His favorite person in the world.” According to reports, Brendan currently plays for HC Davos in Switzerland.

Claude was an extraordinary presence whose vision, generosity and big heart shaped not only Andros, but the many relationships and lives around him.

His death came only days after a public appearance in Montreal. On Monday, Lemieux carried the ceremonial torch before Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final between the Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes at Bell Centre.Claude Lemieux built one of the most memorable careers in NHL history. The Quebec native won Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, and Colorado Avalanche. He scored 80 playoff goals, which ranks among the best totals in league history, and played 234 postseason games.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman called him “one of the greatest big-game Players in hockey history” while offering condolences to his family.Even years after retirement, Lemieux remained a major name in hockey because of his playoff success, intense style of play, and strong impact on every team he joined.
